Darrera provides an innovative mini marine buoy to the City Council of Almería for environmental monitoring in Cabo de Gata

The new 3R SDB050 buoy, delivered as part of the “Almería, smart paradise of active tourism” project, represents a significant step forward in environmental management for the area, enabling precise and efficient monitoring of critical parameters such as wave height and water temperature through an advanced online platform.

Designed for fully autonomous operation using solar energy, the 3R SDB050 buoy has a diameter of just 42 cm and is equipped with precision sensors to measure wave height, period, and direction, as well as water temperature and atmospheric pressure at the surface. The innovative Smart Mooring system, delivered along with the buoy, features additional temperature sensors placed at various depths, providing a detailed thermal profile of the water, which is crucial for studying marine ecosystems and biodiversity in the area.

Data collected by the sensors is stored in a high-capacity datalogger and transmitted to the cloud via 4G. This facilitates remote monitoring and management through an online platform, which also offers access to the data via an API. As a result, environmental management teams can access accurate, real-time data, empowering them to make informed decisions for environmental preservation.

Darrera is proud to reaffirm its commitment to innovation in environmental management by delivering solutions that contribute to the protection and conservation of valuable natural areas like Cabo de Gata, renowned for its rich terrestrial and marine biodiversity.
