Our marine weather systems and coastal data buoys facilitate vessel traffic and supply operations on ports and offshore platforms.

Weather conditions pose a real challenge when working on ports and offshore platforms. Dealing with adverse weather requires extra caution on each single operation to ensure the safety of people, vessels, transported goods and heavy machinery.

Darrera supplies marine weather systems that provide all the required information to make decisions and perform actions based on accurate data, not just intuition. The systems measure the current weather conditions and sea state to deliver real-time information that helps operators to further improve safety and minimize risks. The data provided is easily viewed locally or online through a fully customized display, and can also be integrated with other systems available at the port or platform.

Vessel traffic

Strong winds, waves and low visibility can limit the maneuverability of vessels when approaching the port surroundings and while mooring. Knowing the weather conditions leads to a better traffic planning and, at the same time, maximizes traffic safety and efficiency.

Supply operations

Strong winds and waves also affect crane operations. Weather conditions need to be monitored to prevent material damage and economic losses while heavy containers are loaded, unloaded and stowed. Our warning systems alert crane operators when the conditions are not adequate for normal operation and may put in danger the transported goods. Alerts can be both visual and audible, and be recorded for the subsequent analysis if necessary.

Wave monitoring

We supply a wide range of moored and drifting buoys suitable for wave characterization and modeling in shallow and deep waters. The data collected by the buoys can be used to ensure the safety during port operations and for the verification of wave propagation models both outside and inside the port.

Oceanography

Our buoys are also used to collect relevant data in oceanographic research projects. They can be equipped with different instrumentation for measuring both weather and sea parameters, such as wind, visibility, temperature, salinity, pH and turbidity, and with several remote communication options to allow researchers receiving real-time information regardless of their physical location.
