The new system will help increase safety of large commercial vessels during mooring operations by providing port personnel with crucial information of wave profiles and tidal variations.
Built in 2010, the Son Blanc Port is located in the bay of Ciutadella, an area known for its strong winds from the west. While the low-rise docks of the port ensure minimal visual impact in a zone of great environmental value, they also require extreme caution when mooring in windy conditions.
The ocean-meteorological solution will be based on the data measured by 2 high-performance wave sensors installed in the eastern and western docks. The sensors will send the information over radio-links to the control center of the port for real-time monitoring and management through a fully customized platform developed by Darrera.
