The new equipment will help improve the forecasts of the County Council’s Meteorological Service and to make decisions in risk situations.
The observation network of the local meteorological service, currently formed by 10 stations, will be expanded soon with 3 new stations installed in the municipalities of Mataró, Sant Vicenç de Montalt and Vilassar de Mar.
The new stations are equipped with sensors for measuring wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, precipitation, atmospheric pressure and solar and UV radiation. The stations also feature a system for automated and real-time weather data sending to the Internet, which allows for remote monitoring and management. The sensors, data logger and 3G communications system of each set are powered by solar energy for total autonomy.
