Darrera installs and commissions an AWS weather system in the uranium deposit of “Retortillo-Santidad” (Salamanca) worked by Berkeley Minera, to monitor the micrometeorology of the area.
The AWS weather system consists of a high capacity datalogger that serves as the hub of the whole, supplying each of the sensors individually and capturing the data they provide for subsequent storage, download, processing and monitoring through the included software.
The sensor array consists of two sets of cup anemometer, wind vane and thermo-hygrometer sensor housed in a high isolation radiation shield (measurements at 2 and 10 meters), atmospheric pressure sensor, ISO 9060 second-class pyranometer, high resolution rain gauge and A-class evaporimeter pan with level sensor and additional water temperature probe.
The weather station also includes a network transmission system that allows remote connectivity, as well as local data extraction on the spot using a laptop.
